  • Manage urgent disclosure requests, data preservation requests, and other regulatory demands.
  • Conduct legal analysis relating to privacy, data protection, confidentiality, and data disclosure obligations.
  • Assess the validity and enforceability of government, judicial, and regulatory requests.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Privacy, Compliance, Security, and Trust & Safety teams to support regulatory investigations, cyber/privacy incidents, and compliance initiatives.

Job description

Our client, a leading global technology and digital platform company, is seeking an experienced Privacy & Data Protection Specialist to support its legal and compliance operations in connection with the EU E-Evidence framework and related law enforcement requests.This is a remote, part-time contract opportunity working three days per week: Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The weekend coverage is a key component of the role, supporting both urgent requests and matters where statutory response deadlines fall over the weekend.

The role is expected to commence in September 2026 and is open to candidates based in Australia. You do not need previous E-Evidence experience. The successful candidate will receive comprehensive onboarding and training and will work closely with the client's team as they develop their knowledge of the E-Evidence framework, internal processes and the types of requests being managed. Importantly, you do not need to be a qualified lawyer. We are equally interested in experienced privacy, data protection, regulatory or legal operations professionals with relevant transferable experience.

Key Responsibilities

About You
  • A minimum of 3+ years in privacy, data protection, law enforcement response, regulatory compliance, legal operations, trust & safety, investigations, risk & compliance, or related legal functions.
  • Demonstrable expertise in GDPR, European privacy frameworks, and advising on data disclosure obligations, privacy investigations, or regulatory compliance matters.
  • Experience in handling law enforcement requests, government or regulatory inquiries, court orders, investigations, data breaches, cyber incident response, or privacy incident management.
  • Strong analytical, risk assessment, decision-making, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to interpret policies and regulatory requirements, manage sensitive information, maintain detailed documentation, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
