Job summary

Raytheon Australia is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to contribute to the Collins Class Submarine Combat System. You will work across the full capability lifecycle in multidisciplinary teams, applying rigorous systems engineering practices, and mentoring junior engineers.

The role offers hybrid work arrangements within Australia, with opportunities to influence critical defence capabilities and engage with stakeholders across engineering, program delivery and the customer community.

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering with CPEng eligibility.
• 8+ years in systems engineering across multiple domains.
• Ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
• Eligible for NV1 security clearance as needed.
• Desirable defence/regulated-industry experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft and Atlassian tool suites (Teams, Jira, Confluence).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement product solutions for integration into the Combat System.
• Lead verification and validation activities per design requirements.
• Generate and maintain design certification documentation.
• Provide engineering support to transition products into operational service.
• Conduct risk analysis and plan verification activities.
• Lead technical reviews across the project lifecycle.
• Mentor junior engineers in applying systems engineering methodologies.
