Job summary

Flybuys in Melbourne seeks a Reimagine Principal Solution Engineer to own end-to-end solutions within the Reimagine Program. You will translate strategy into scalable, secure AI-enabled technology delivering measurable member, partner and commercial value.

The role provides senior engineering leadership across architecture, quality, delivery performance and platform reuse while uplifting capability across the broader engineering community. You will mentor teams and shape reusable assets.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in software engineering and solution design.
• Experience leading engineering or cross-functional delivery in product- or value-oriented teams.
• Ability to balance speed, quality, security and cost.
• Experience with cloud-native practices including CI/CD, observability, APIs and modern quality practices.
• Experience applying AI-assisted engineering, automation or data-driven delivery approaches in a practical and governed way.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical solution across design, implementation, operational readiness and continuous improvement.
• Ensure solutions are scalable, resilient, secure and aligned to business, member, partner and commercial outcomes.
• Reduce hand-offs and strengthen decision quality by providing clear technical ownership within the squad.
• Design modular, API-first and reusable solutions that reduce duplication and improve platform leverage across squads.
• Contribute patterns, standards and reusable assets that improve speed, quality and consistency of delivery.
• Apply systems thinking across architecture, squads, partners, data, AI and platforms.
• Use AI-assisted ways of working and automation responsibly to improve speed, quality, knowledge capture and team productivity.
• Redesign workflows to use automation intelligently within agreed governance, quality and risk guardrails.
• Promote data-driven engineering and experimentation practices where they improve outcomes.
• Improve speed-to-value, technology health, quality and release confidence.
• Embed observability, testing, resilience and security by design across solution delivery.
• Make explicit trade-offs between cost, speed, value, quality, risk and long-term sustainability.
• Shape product, technology and prioritisation decisions early using evidence, technical judgement and influence.
• Design and govern integrations across internal and external systems, including partner environments where relevant.
• Direct and quality-assure work delivered through vendors, delivery partners or lower-cost delivery models while maintaining Flybuys accountability for standards and outcomes.
• Mentor engineers, lift engineering standards and contribute to capability beyond the immediate squad.
• Create reusable assets, strengthen engineering practices and support the transition to future-state ways of working.

Your Role

The Reimagine Principal Solution Engineer is accountable for end-to-end solution ownership within the Reimagine Program, translating business strategy, product direction and partner requirements into scalable, secure and AI-enabled technology solutions that deliver measurable member, partner and commercial value.

The role provides senior engineering leadership across architecture, quality, delivery performance, platform reuse and technology risk, while lifting capability across the wider engineering community and strengthening technical ownership closer to where work happens.

• Own the technical solution across design, implementation, operational readiness and continuous improvement.

Your Experience

• Extensive experience in software engineering and solution design across complex, scalable digital environments.
• Experience leading engineering or cross-functional delivery in product- or value-oriented teams.
• Demonstrated experience making architectural and delivery trade-offs in environments balancing speed, quality, security and cost.
• Experience with cloud-native or modern engineering practices including CI/CD, observability, APIs and modern quality practices.
• Experience applying AI-assisted engineering, automation or data-driven delivery approaches in a practical and governed way is strongly preferred.
• Experience with partner integration, managed services or complex ecosystem dependencies is highly desirable.
