Job summary

AGL Energy seeks a Principal Security Architect (IT) to lead secure architectures across its enterprise IT landscape in Melbourne. You will shape cybersecurity strategy, define high‑level security standards, and uplift security across cloud, network, and applications.

Collaborating with senior stakeholders, you’ll drive threat modelling, risk assessments, and secure‑by‑design practices, ensuring compliance with ISO 27001, NIST, and Essential 8. Location: Docklands.

Qualifications

• Exposure in security architecture within medium/large enterprise IT environments.
• Deep expertise across IAM, network, cloud, endpoint, and application security technologies.
• Strong architectural capability in Azure, AWS, or multi‑cloud, with knowledge of APIs, microservices and containers.
• Broad understanding of enterprise IT systems, infrastructure, cloud platforms and applications.
• Hands‑on experience in threat modelling, security assessments and secure SDLC practices.
• Hybrid networks, segmentation, zero trust, identity‑centric security, and modern authentication protocols.
• Ability to assess cybersecurity risks and communicate with senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Shape cybersecurity strategy through thought leadership on technologies, threats and patterns.
• Define high‑level security architectures across cloud, network, and data platforms.
• Develop reusable security patterns and reference architectures for secure‑by‑design outcomes.
• Partner with teams to embed secure‑by‑design practices across the IT lifecycle.
• Lead threat modelling, security assessments, and design reviews for complex programs.
• Advise senior stakeholders on security risks and incident response.
• Drive improvements via post‑incident reviews and standards alignment.
