BHP in Adelaide invites applications for a Principal Radiation to lead and optimise radiation management across Copper South Australia sites. Reporting to the Superintendent Asset Radiation, you will drive initiatives, ensure regulatory compliance, and mentor the HSS team.

The role involves site travel and a 5/2 roster with a strong focus on safety leadership. The successful candidate will bring extensive radiation protection experience, qualifications in physics or radiation protection, and

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Physics, Radiation Protection or related fields.
• Several years’ experience in radiation protection.
• Experience in holding Statutory Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) roles in complex organisations.
• Knowledge of radiation safety regulations set by SA EPA, ARPSANA, ICRP and IAEA.
• Ability to engage, coach and influence multiple stakeholders at varying levels.

Responsibilities

• Identify and assess safety, health and environmental risks and recommend radiation management controls.
• Advise on health & safety matters in radiation-related work.
• Provide coaching and subject matter advice to asset and line management and external customers.
• Anticipate and verify radiation exposure controls.
• Contribute to the strategic direction of radiation management in Copper SA.
