Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Principal Process Engineer to lead our Energy & Resources team in Brisbane. You will drive complex mining and resource projects, provide expert process engineering leadership, and mentor engineers while fostering strong client relationships.

The role offers opportunities to guide studies to detailed design, contribute to business development, and elevate technical standards across a diverse project portfolio.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in process engineering within the Mining and Resources sector (15 years).
• Strong background and deep technical knowledge of mineral processing and resource industry projects.
• Proven experience leading process engineering design and project delivery activities.
• Experience managing projects from studies and feasibility through to detailed design and execution.
• Strong understanding of process engineering standards, design practices, and risk management principles.
• Commitment to mentoring and supporting the development of junior engineers.
• Experience preparing proposals, supporting bids, and developing client relationships.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

About the role

An exciting opportunity exists for a Principal Process Engineer to join Stantec's Energy & Resources team in Brisbane. As a senior technical leader within the Process Engineering team, you'll play a key role in delivering complex mining and resource sector projects, providing specialist process engineering expertise, and supporting the growth of both our people and client relationships.

This role offers the opportunity to lead projects, mentor engineers, contribute to business development activities, and help drive technical excellence across a diverse portfolio of work.

To be successful in this role, you'll bring:

• Extensive experience in process engineering within the Mining and Resources sector (15 years)

• Strong background and deep technical knowledge of mineral processing and resource industry projects, including comminution, hydrometallurgical and/or pyrometallurgical processes.

• Proven experience leading process engineering design and project delivery activities

• Experience managing projects from studies and feasibility through to detailed design and execution

• Strong understanding of process engineering standards, design practices, and risk management principles

• Commitment to mentoring and supporting the development of junior engineers

• Experience preparing proposals, supporting bids, and developing client relationships

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• A collaborative leadership style with a strong focus on quality, safety, and client outcomes

• Required to hold or be eligible for RPEQ (Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland) or equivalent (i.e. AusIMM Chartered Professional (CP) accreditation).
