Job summary

BHP Group in Australia seeks a Principal Performance and Analytics to join the Minerals Australia Operational Decarbonisation Team in Perth or Brisbane. Reporting to the Manager Performance, Data and Analytics, you will translate decarbonisation priorities into clear performance insights, practical actions and executive-ready reporting.

Qualifications

  • Experience in performance management, operations, or analytics.
  • Ability to translate complex information into clear insights.
  • Experience influencing senior stakeholders across functions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and continuously improve the Operational Decarbonisation performance management approach.
  • Improve performance boards, field leadership activities and continuous improvement practices.
  • Develop clear narratives for quarterly, annual and executive reporting.
  • Coordinate Operational Decarbonisation input with Communications and External Affairs.
  • Bring together evidence, insights and stakeholder perspectives for external engagement.
  • Leverage feedback to strengthen messaging and address misconceptions.
  • Improve team processes for research, development and deployment opportunities.
  • Build relationships across Finance, Climate, Legal, Communications and External Affairs.

About the Role

We are looking for a Principal Performance and Analytics to join the Minerals Australia Operational Decarbonisation Team.

Reporting to the Manager Performance, Data and Analytics, you will translate Operational Decarbonisation priorities into clear performance insights, practical actions, and effective stakeholder communications. You will work closely with senior leaders, program teams and functional partners to strengthen delivery of our plan and build confidence in our decarbonisation pathway.

In this role you will:
  • Develop and continuously improve the Operational Decarbonisation performance management approach, drawing on BHP Operating System practices.
  • Improve the effectiveness of performance boards, role confirmations, field leadership activities and continuous improvement practices.
  • Develop clear narratives for quarterly, annual and executive reporting, translating complex information into practical insights.
  • Act as a key interface with Communications and External Affairs to coordinate Operational Decarbonisation input and progress agreed priorities.
  • Bring together operational evidence, performance insights and stakeholder perspectives to support external engagement and communications.
  • Use stakeholder feedback and emerging insights to identify opportunities to strengthen messaging and address common misconceptions.
  • Improve team processes, including the management and assessment of research, development, demonstration and deployment opportunities.
  • Build trusted relationships across operational teams and functions, including Finance, Climate, Legal, Communications and External Affairs.

This role provides an opportunity to shape how Operational Decarbonisation manages performance, communicates progress and supports informed decisions across a complex and evolving portfolio.

About You

You will bring:

  • Experience in performance management, operations, commercial or economic analysis, strategic communications, or a related discipline.
  • A practical coaching style, with experience helping leaders and teams improve performance routines and convert insights into action.
  • The ability to translate complex operational, technical, financial and policy information into clear insights and stakeholder narratives.
  • Experience influencing senior stakeholders and working across functions, businesses and geographies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience developing material for senior leadership or external audiences.
  • A working understanding of the BHP Operating System, performance management, continuous improvement and data-informed decision-making.
  • A bachelor’s degree in science, technology, engineering, commerce, or a related field is preferred. Other qualifications and relevant experience will also be considered.

This is a 12-month fixed-term or secondment opportunity, with an anticipated start date of mid-November 2026. Applications close22 September 2026.
