Huntington Ingalls Industries, Inc. is seeking a Senior Principal Manufacturing Engineer to join the Mission Technologies team in Australia.

The role focuses on uplifting Australia’s defence manufacturing capability through supplier audits, maturity assessments and engineering governance in a safety‑critical, high‑integrity environment. You will mentor practitioners, lead corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement while ensuring compliance with MILSPECs and NAVSEA standards.

Qualifications

• Nine years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree in a related field, seven years with a master’s, or 13 years with an equivalent combination.
• Experience in a technical or engineering role within US/UK Naval Nuclear environments.
• Strong knowledge of MILSPECs/NAVSEA and SUBSAFE or nuclear-classified components.
• Ability to lead supplier assessments and drive corrective actions for manufacturing maturity.

Responsabilités

• Strengthen supplier capability and ensure technical excellence across programs.
• Lead onboarding assessments and guide corrective actions to uplift supplier maturity.
• Plan and execute independent assurance activities with audit records and engineering insights.
• Influence procurement, operations planning and integration of technical requirements across the supply chain.
• Conduct investigations and produce high-quality technical documentation for knowledge capture.
• Lead discussions with customers and contribute to bids with expert engineering input.
• Champion standardized manufacturing and supplier due-diligence practices.
