Job summary

Enemix is seeking a seasoned Principal HV Engineer to lead technical governance and design assurance for upstream HV infrastructure in data-center focused environments. You will act as the owner’s engineer, guiding substations, switchgear, HV cables, and related systems from design through commissioning.

You will partner with the Grid Connection Manager to ensure grid compliance, oversee contractor designs, and drive continuous improvement across standards and tools, including

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems Engineering.
• 10+ years in HV-related fields (transmission, utilities, renewable energy, or large industrial infra).
• Strong track record in HV substation design and engineering.
• Deep knowledge of Australian electrical standards and utility requirements.
• Proven success managing EPC contractors and consultants.

Responsibilities

• Act as technical authority for HV projects including substations, transformers, switchgear, HV cables/lines.
• Review contractor designs, run technical workshops, ensure standards and regulatory compliance.
• Work with Grid Connection Manager to incorporate requirements into designs and assess grid compliance.
• Support procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning to meet performance targets.
• Champion standardised HV solutions and governance best practices.

Job description

Enemix are supporting a leading provider in hyperscale and co-location data centers. They specialize in developing, owning, and operating cutting-edge infrastructure to power some of the most ambitious technology companies globally. With an expanding presence across APAC, their focus is on innovation, reliability, and long-term partnerships.

They are currently seeking a seasoned and highly skilled Principal HV Engineer to join their Power & Energy function. This senior engineering role involves taking a leadership position in ensuring the technical integrity, governance, and design assurance of upstream high-voltage infrastructure. The selected candidate will serve as the owner’s engineer and HV technical authority, guiding activities across design, development, and operational readiness for high-voltage systems.

Key Responsibilities

• HV Engineering & Governance: Act as the technical authority, providing guidance for HV projects involving substations, transformers, switchgear, HV cables/lines, and related systems.
• Design Assurance & EPC Oversight: Review and approve contractor designs, lead technical workshops, and ensure adherence to industry and regulatory standards.
• Grid Integration: Work closely with the Grid Connection Manager to incorporate connection requirements into infrastructure design and evaluate compliance with grid standards.
• Project Delivery & Commissioning: Support procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning efforts to ensure assets meet performance and reliability targets.
• Continuous Improvement: Uphold technical standards, drive the development of standardised HV solutions, and support engineering governance best practices across the organisation.

Requirements

Must-Have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in fields such as transmission, distribution, utilities, renewable energy, or major industrial infrastructure.
• Strong track record in HV substation design and engineering.
• In-depth knowledge of Australian electrical standards and utility/network requirements.
• Proven success managing EPC contractors and consultants.

Preferred:

• Expertise in 132 kV, 220 kV, 275 kV, 330 kV, or higher-voltage systems.
• Familiarity with Australian TNSPs/DNSPs and contestable energy assets.
• Experience working with hyperscale data centers or other large industrial operations.
• Knowledge of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and renewable energy infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience with simulation software tools such as PSCAD, PSS®E, and/or Power Factory.
• Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) accreditation or equivalent certification.
