Job summary

Mining Plus is seeking a Principal Geologist to lead complex geology projects from our Perth or Melbourne offices. You will oversee mineral resource estimation, mine geology work, and client relationships.

Bring 12–15 years in resource estimation, CP/QP capability, and mentoring of junior staff. Proficiency with Datamine, Surpac, Leapfrog, and related software is essential.

• Extensive resource estimation experience across multiple projects.
• Autonomous and collaborative professional capable of leading complex geology work.
• Experience mentoring junior staff and building capabilities within a team.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with clients and colleagues.
• Experience across commodities and geological settings, with CP/QP exposure.

Core Functions of the Role

• Mineral resource estimation, exploration & resource definition drilling
• Mine geology, reconciliation, and drilling optimisation
• Due diligence reviews
• Acting as CP/QP in at least one commodity style (JORC/NI 43–101 preferred)
• Peer review, training, and mentoring of other Geologists within the Australian team
• Business development and client relationship building
• Assisting with mining studies where required
• Proposal generation and project management

About you

• You are a skilled professional who takes pride in your ability to work autonomously and collaboratively on complex projects within a team environment
• You have experience working across a range of commodities, mineralisation styles, and geological settings, and can act as a CP/QP in at least one commodity/mineralisation style
• Have been working in resource estimation for at least 10 years (12 – 15 preferred)
• You are comfortable training and mentoring junior staff members in all aspects of the resource estimation process
• You have excellent written and verbal communication skills
• You have excellent interpersonal skills and have a demonstrated ability to grow strong relationships within a team, with clients, and within our industry
• You display great time management and problem‑solving skills and are competent in the use of geological software such as Datamine, Supervisor, Surpac or Leapfrog (Geo or Edge)
