Job summary

Recruitment Hive in Canberra is seeking a Principal Enterprise Architect to lead enterprise architecture across a multi-cloud, hybrid ICT landscape for a Federal Government authority.

You will align business strategy with ICT investments, govern design through ARB and Design Authority, and guide secure, scalable solutions while engaging stakeholders to reduce risk and technical debt.

Qualifications

• Deliver secure, standards-aligned architecture outcomes.
• Understanding governance frameworks & architecture review processes.
• Experience in complex or government environments.
• Ability to reduce risk, duplication, & technical debt across ICT systems.
• Stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
• Extensive enterprise architecture experience in complex ICT environments.
• Strong knowledge of TOGAF or similar.
• Experience in government or regulated environments preferred.
• Proven ability to influence strategic technology decisions.
• Governance, risk management, & compliance alignment.

Our client, the Federal Government authority responsible for managing the Murray-Darling Basin as a connected river system and supporting sustainable water outcomes, require the services of a Principal Enterprise Architect.

Duties of the Principal Enterprise Architect

• Ensure alignment between business strategy & ICT investments;
• Oversee design governance through Architecture Review Board & Design Authority;
• Provide guidance on secure, scalable, & standards-aligned solutions;
• Support multi-cloud & hybrid infrastructure strategy & integration;
• Collaborate with stakeholders to drive innovation & sustainable technology outcomes.

Skills and Experience Required

• Demonstrate ability to deliver secure, standards-aligned architecture outcomes;
• Strong understanding of governance frameworks & architecture review processes;
• Experience working in complex or government environments;
• Ability to reduce risk, duplication, & technical debt across ICT systems;
• Demonstrated stakeholder engagement & influencing skills;
• Extensive experience in enterprise architecture within complex ICT environments;
• Strong knowledge of architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF or similar);
• Experience in government or regulated environments preferred;
• Proven ability to influence strategic technology decisions;
• Demonstrated experience in governance, risk management, & compliance alignment.
