Job summary

Qualifications

• 10+ years of process engineering experience within water and wastewater.
• Proven treatment plant design experience.
• Background in engineering consulting or design.
• Strong technical knowledge across process design and process modelling.
• Experience with P&IDs, mass balances, HAZOPs and treatment process design.
• Ability to independently lead technical work and make engineering decisions.
• Strong client communication skills.
• Mentoring or guiding other engineers is valued.
• Chartered status, RPEQ or equivalent is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Lead process design for water and wastewater projects across the full project lifecycle.
• Develop and review mass balances, PFDs and P&IDs.
• Perform process modelling including BioWin.
• Lead and contribute to HAZOPs and functional descriptions.
• Review technical calculations, reports and design documents.
• Work directly with clients, contractors and other engineering disciplines.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior and mid level engineers.
• Take ownership of process packages and ensure designs are practical and sound.
• Support projects through detailed design, construction and commissioning.

The Opportunity

We are working with a specialist engineering consultancy that is continuing to grow its water and wastewater capability across Australia.

They are looking for an experienced Principal Process Engineer who can take technical ownership of process design across complex water and wastewater projects.

Sydney is a particular area of interest as the business continues to grow its presence there, however location is flexible for the right person.

This is not a traditional people management position. The focus is on being a strong technical engineer who can independently lead process design, work directly with clients and provide guidance to other engineers within the team.

The Role

You will be involved across the full project lifecycle, from early planning and concept development through detailed design and into construction and commissioning.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading process design for water and wastewater treatment projects
• Developing and reviewing mass balances, PFDs and P&IDs
• Process modelling including BioWin
• Leading and contributing to HAZOPs and functional descriptions
• Reviewing technical calculations, reports and design documentation
• Working directly with clients, contractors and other engineering disciplines
• Providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior and mid level engineers
• Taking ownership of process packages and ensuring designs are practical and technically sound
• Supporting projects through detailed design, construction and commissioning

What We Are Looking For

You will ideally bring:

• 10+ years of process engineering experience
• Strong Australian water and wastewater experience
• Proven treatment plant design experience
• A background within engineering consulting or design
• Strong technical knowledge across process design and process modelling
• Experience with P&IDs, mass balances, HAZOPs and treatment process design
• The ability to independently lead technical work and make engineering decisions
• Strong client communication skills
• Experience mentoring or guiding other engineersChartered status, RPEQ or relevant professional registration highly regarded
