Job summary

Origin Energy in Melbourne is seeking a Principal – Decisioning Value to turn credit strategy into practical processes, decision rules and customer journeys across Origin’s credit lifecycle. You’ll lead the implementation and optimisation of Origin’s Credit Originations Decision Engine (CODE), embedding risk controls and customer protections.

Partnering across teams, you’ll ensure changes are adopted and measure their impact beyond delivery.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience across credit, operations, digital decisioning, business architecture or transformation in a regulated environment.
• Track record implementing decision engines, workflow platforms or customer journeys that deliver measurable commercial value.
• Strong process improvement and change management capability, including readiness, controls, exception handling and adoption.
• Deep understanding of credit operations, collections, hardship and customer protections, with energy or utilities experience.

Responsibilities

• Design decisioning processes and customer journeys that link credit strategies to measurable financial and customer outcomes.
• Lead CODE implementation and optimisation, covering credit checks, identity verification, fraud controls and approval pathways.
• Manage change priorities, dependencies, operational readiness and exception handling to implement changes safely.
• Embed compliance controls, customer protections and auditable decision records into systems and processes.
• Use controlled testing and benefit measurement to refine decision rules, reduce customer friction and sustain improvements.

About the role

Within the Credit Decisioning Intelligence team, you’ll connect business priorities, technology and operations to reduce bad debt, improve conversion and lower cost to serve.You’ll lead the implementation and optimisation of Origin’s Credit Originations Decision Engine (CODE), embedding risk controls and customer protections. Partnering across teams, you’ll ensure changes are adopted and measure their impact beyond delivery.

You combine credit expertise with strong process design and commercial judgement. You’re confident influencing senior stakeholders and translating complex strategies into changes that work in live operations.

You’ll bring:

• Extensive experience across credit, operations, digital decisioning, business architecture or transformation in a regulated environment.
• A track record implementing decision engines, workflow platforms or customer journeys that deliver measurable commercial value.
• Strong process improvement and change management capability, including readiness, controls, exception handling and adoption.
• Deep understanding of credit operations, collections, hardship and customer protections, with energy or utilities experience.
• A bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline and Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent process improvement qualification.
