Job summary

AECOM in Sydney is seeking a Principal Civil Engineer to lead the Aviation & Pavements team, delivering civil infrastructure across NSW and growing our broader civil practice.

You will manage technical quality, budgets, programmes and risks while shaping multi-disciplinary designs and client relationships. 10+ years of Civil Engineering experience and proficiency in Civil 3D, DRAINS, AutoCAD are required, with ideally CPEng or equivalent. Hybrid work options apply.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of civil engineering experience.
• Broad civil design experience across roads, earthworks, stormwater, drainage and utilities.
• Proficient in Civil 3D, DRAINS and AutoCAD, and reviewing designs and documentation.
• Knowledge of Australian Standards, Austroads and client/local authority requirements.
• Strong communication and ability to build trusted client relationships.
• Experience managing project scope, budgets, programmes, resources and risks; sound commercial judgement.
• Engineering qualification, ideally with CPEng or equivalent accreditation.
• Some projects require Australian security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary civil infrastructure projects, managing technical quality, budgets, programmes and project risks.
• Lead and review civil designs across roads, earthworks, stormwater, drainage, utilities and related infrastructure.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to deliver coordinated, buildable designs.
• Build and maintain client relationships and identify opportunities to support projects.
• Contribute to business development, including proposals, fee estimates and client presentations.
• Mentor and develop engineers, fostering a collaborative team culture.
