Job summary

Department of Transport & Planning Victoria in Melbourne is seeking a Principal Architect to lead the Data & Digital division, setting direction for secure, data-driven solutions across transport, planning and corporate domains. You will partner with leaders to shape current-state and future-state roadmaps, drive transformation, and mentor other architects.

This appointment will be at the base of the STS range and is a significant opportunity to shape enterprise architecture for the State,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems or related field.
• At least five years’ enterprise architecture experience, including two years in domain architecture and technology leadership.
• TOGAF certification or equivalent (mandatory).

About the role

As a Principal Architect in the Data & Digital division, you will be a senior technical leader setting the direction for complex, modern, secure and data-driven solutions across transport, planning and corporate domains.

You will partner with business and technology leaders and teams to understand and maintain the current state, build future-state roadmaps, drive transformation, and guide solutions through design, governance, implementation, operation and assurance. You will also collaborate with and mentor architects to help grow capabilities across a talented team.

We are looking for genuine depth in capability, leadership, and experience to transform and elevate the Department's business and technology outcomes.

This is a significant opportunity to shape the Department's enterprise and domain architecture, which will drive meaningful, sustainable, and impactful outcomes for the State.

Please note this appointment will be at the base of the STS range $193,496 plus super.

Qualifications and experience

You’llbring:

• Extensive experience in enterprise and domain architecture, technology leadership and delivering large-scale transformation programs, with expertise across multiple architecture disciplines.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to present complex technical solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences, supported by experience using enterprise architecture frameworks and tools.
• A bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems or a related field, along with at least five years' enterprise architecture experience (including two years in a domain architecture and technology leadership role) and TOGAF® certification or equivalent (mandatory).
