Job description

Department of Transport & Planning Victoria – Melbourne VIC

This is a fixed term executive contract for up to five years.

Reporting to the Head of Assets & Engineering, and based in Melbourne CBD or Ringwood, the Director Road Design Services has ultimate authority and accountability for delivering capable and competent road engineering design services, including pavement, geotechnical, structural and civil road design.

The Road Design Services branch operates as a self-funded unit, relying on project income from Transport Services and other parties, including the Victorian Infrastructure Delivery Authority (VIDA). The role ensures design services are delivered efficiently, cost-effectively and to a high standard of quality, oversees fee-for-service and Service Level Agreements (SLA's) to keep the branch sustainable, and collaborates with Assets & Engineering senior leadership to support strategic planning and departmental priorities.

Qualifications and experience

You’ll bring:

• A tertiary qualification in engineering or related discipline (mandatory).
• Appropriate industry experience in road engineering and design leadership (mandatory).
• Postgraduate qualification in engineering, business management, risk management or a related discipline (desirable).
