Job summary

The Victorian Department of Health, part of the State Government of Victoria, seeks a Principal Application Architect to assess platforms and design application and reporting architectures that meet business and non-functional requirements.

You will provide strategic architectural guidance across eHealth projects, mentor teams in analytics and emerging technologies including AI and RPA, and ensure alignment with enterprise guidelines across the department and Victorian government.

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in IT is highly desirable.
• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft .Net, Azure cloud services, Angular and SQL server is essential.
• Extensive experience in ICT cloud architecture, evaluating stakeholder requirements and presenting solutions to executives.
• Experience as a Principal Developer and Architect, delivering solutions in agile government or large organisations.

About the role

The Principal Application Architect is responsible for assessing technology platforms and designs application and reporting architecture based on business, functional and non-functional requirements, this includes defining the interaction between application packages, databases and middleware systems in terms of functional and non-functional coverage.

The role provides strategic guidance across eHealth projects, offering architectural advice on application and reporting solutions, industry trends, and options analysis to maximise value and efficiency. It also leads and mentor's teams in disciplines such as application innovation, analytics, and emerging technologies including artificial intelligence, robotic processing automation, cloud services etc, ensuing quality and consistency of application architecture across the department while adhering to enterprise architecture guideline setup across the department and Victorian government.

About you

• A tertiary qualification in a relevant Information Technology discipline is highly desirable.
• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft .Net, Azure cloud services, Angular and SQL server is essential.
• Extensive experience in ICT cloud architecture, technologies and current/emerging industry trends. Proven ability to evaluate stakeholder requirements and develop and present solution options to business, senior management and executive stakeholders.
• Extensive experience as a Principal Developer and then as an Architect, working for medium to large government or commercial organisations with software design patterns, development standards and application frameworks. Proven ability in delivering system solutions in an agile environment with expertise in a wide range of disciplines.
