Job summary

You’ll lead AI-enabled software initiatives, drive modern engineering practices, and mentor engineers while collaborating with security, risk and delivery teams to scale AI responsibly.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in software engineering, engineering leadership or technical architecture roles.
• Hands-on experience building and delivering customer-facing digital products and platforms.
• Practical experience integrating AI technologies, models and APIs into production software environments.
• Strong knowledge of modern engineering practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, cloud-native development and DevOps.
• Experience working with cloud platforms and AI services, particularly AWS and related technologies.
• Strong understanding of microservices, APIs and modern application architectures.
• The ability to influence technical direction across multiple teams and stakeholder groups.
• Experience balancing innovation, risk, performance and cost considerations when delivering technology solutions.
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Shaping the technical vision for how AI capabilities are embedded into Medibank's platforms, products and services.
• Translating enterprise AI strategy into actionable engineering roadmaps and scalable technical solutions.
• Providing technical leadership and architectural guidance across AI-enabled software development initiatives.
• Defining and evolving engineering standards, patterns and frameworks that enable teams to build AI solutions consistently and efficiently.
• Embedding modern software engineering practices, including CI/CD, automation and secure-by-design delivery approaches.
• Partnering with engineering, architecture, security, risk and delivery teams to ensure AI solutions are scalable, secure and well governed.
• Driving adoption of AI engineering practices through coaching, enablement and knowledge sharing across squads.
• Advising on cloud architecture, model integration, performance optimisation and cost-efficient AI delivery.
• Influencing strategic technology decisions across multiple domains while balancing innovation, risk and long‑term sustainability.
• Mentoring engineers and technical leaders, helping grow AI engineering capability across Medibank.
