Youth Justice and Victim Support - Caboolture QLD

The Principal Advisor, Youth Detention Recruitment provides supervision and support to a recruitment team and provides high level advice on, and coordinates a number of recruitment-related activities to support operations in Queensland youth detention centres, principally for the role of Detention Youth Worker, but for other roles as required. This role will have a particular focus on recruiting staff for the new Woodford Youth Detention Centre.

Within this scope you will deliver culturally appropriate recruitment and selection methods including talent attraction, candidate assessment, and guidance to tools available. You will also be required to contribute expert knowledge and skills to assist the team to implement strategic recruitment projects in a complex workforce.

The Principal Advisor, Youth Detention Recruitment plays a key role in the recruitment and selection of frontline Detention Youth Workers and other departmental staff within youth detention, ensuring compliance with Queensland Government policies and procedures.

Key responsibilities include leading a small team who will have responsibility for delivering practical information sessions, engaging in talent attraction initiatives, and cofacilitating candidate assessment processes, such as assessment centres for groups of applicants.

The role requires effective collaboration with a range of internal and external stakeholders. A demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, along with a sound understanding of the issues affecting them in contemporary society, is essential.

Additionally, the role involves contributing to the monitoring and evaluation of recruitment activities to drive continuous improvement and ensure the delivery of high-quality recruitment services for youth detention. You will also coordinate the delivery of services from external providers. These may include recruitment services, medical and functional assessments, and reference checking.
