Job description

Position: Primary Teacher with Leadership Experience
Department: Primary School
Employment: Permanent Full-Time
Commencement: 2027

Moriah College is a vibrant, independent co-educational Jewish school offering Preschool to Year 12 education. Located between Centennial Park and Queens Park, just a short walk from Bondi Junction, our campus is nestled in one of Sydney’s most desirable locations.

We are proud to deliver a dual curriculum that combines academic excellence in secular studies with a rich and meaningful Jewish Studies program. Our approach is student-centred, community-minded and responsive to the evolving social and cultural landscape.

Commencing at the beginning of Term 1, 2027, on a 12-month maximum-term contract, this is an exciting opportunity for a passionate Primary Teacher to join Moriah College.

The role would suit an enthusiastic educator with a strong foundation in primary teaching and a genuine commitment to student learning. Depending on the successful candidate's experience, there may also be opportunities to take on leadership responsibilities, mentor and support colleagues, and contribute to the ongoing development of teaching practice across the Primary School. Previous leadership experience would be highly regarded but is not essential.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Deliver high-quality teaching and learning programs that are differentiated to meet the diverse needs of students across all KLAs.
  • Design learning and teaching experiences that include both explicit instruction and investigative inquiry that deepens learning through authentic engagement.
  • Analyse student data to inform teaching practice and maximise student growth to inform adjustments.
  • Demonstrate effective classroom practice and contribute to the development and implementation of engaging, evidence-informed teaching programs.
  • Utilise positive education and wellbeing practices to strengthen student relationships, enhance resilience and support overall wellbeing.
  • Draw upon leadership experience to mentor, guide and support colleagues in their professional practice and development.
  • Contribute to curriculum planning, collaborative programming and the ongoing evaluation of teaching and learning practices.
  • Foster a culture of professional collaboration, reflective practice and continuous improvement.
  • Build positive relationships with students, colleagues and families, contributing to a connected and supportive school community.
  • Participate actively in the co-curricular life of the College.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional learning and leadership development.
Experience and Qualifications Required:
  • NESA-approved qualification to teach in a Primary setting.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Demonstrated teaching experience within the NSW Curriculum, ideally within an Independent Primary School setting.
  • Previous leadership experience, with demonstrated capability to lead, mentor and support colleagues within a school environment.
  • Understanding of curriculum, effective teaching practices and student assessment.
  • An understanding of the needs of high-potential learners and the ability to support a diverse range of learning needs.
  • The ability to support and guide colleagues in implementing evidence-informed teaching strategies and differentiated learning approaches.
  • Well-developed collaboration, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with both students and adults.
  • A reflective approach to teaching and leadership, with a commitment to continuous improvement and professional growth.
  • A strong work ethic, displaying initiative, determination, self-motivation and curiosity.
  • A genuine passion for inspiring young people to achieve the best version of themselves.
  • Understanding and respect for faith based schools.
  • A valid Working With Children Check.
