Job summary

ConnectYou in Adelaide is seeking a Senior Primary Design Engineer to lead hands-on primary electrical design across multiple projects from concept through construction.

You will mentor graduates, shape design standards, and collaborate with clients and internal teams to ensure safety, regulatory and environmental compliance while delivering integrated designs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Extensive primary electrical design experience in utilities, infrastructure or industrial.
• Proven track record leading design packages on medium to large projects.
• Strong knowledge of industry standards and regulatory frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver primary design packages, covering equipment selection, layout design and technical specifications.
• Prepare and review engineering drawings, calculations and design documentation to standards.
• Oversee the technical quality of design outputs from internal design teams and external consultants.
• Work with clients, stakeholders and internal project teams to understand design requirements and constraints.
• Carry out site assessments and inspections to inform and validate design solutions.
• Support tendering and estimating by developing scopes, cost estimates and technical input.
• Coordinate with secondary systems, civil, structural and other disciplines to deliver integrated designs.
• Make sure designs meet regulatory, safety and environmental requirements.
• Mentor and guide graduate and junior engineers.

Senior Primary Design Engineer - Adelaide

We're recruiting a Senior Primary Design Engineer in Adelaide on behalf of our client, a transmission and distribution business.

You'll report to the engineering leadership team. The role suits someone with strong hands-on design experience who can lead technical work packages from concept through to construction. You'll work across a variety of projects, mentor junior engineers, and help shape design standards and processes across the organisation.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver primary design packages, covering equipment selection, layout design and technical specifications
