Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent recognised qualification.
• Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA).
• At least one year of relevant clinical nursing experience; GP or primary care experience is valued.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients’ nursing needs and plan, implement and evaluate nursing care to professional standards and individual care plans.
• Undertake clinical observations and triage and communicate findings to General Practitioners.
• Administer vaccinations and immunisations and update immunisation records.
• Assist with health assessments, chronic disease management, diabetes and asthma care, GP Management Plans and Team Care Arrangements.
• Administer medications and treatments within scope of practice and monitor patient responses.
• Perform clinical procedures and diagnostic testing including ECGs, spirometry, audiometry and venepuncture.
• Assist GPs with minor procedures, wound care, dressings, sutures removal and sterilisation of equipment.
• Provide patients and families with information and education concerning treatment, disease management, preventative health and lifestyle choices.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and coordinate patient reminders, recalls and follow-up care.
• Work collaboratively with GPs, allied health providers and practice staff to coordinate patient care and maintain a safe clinical environment.

Education

Bachelor of Nursing

Registered Nurse (AHPRA)

1+ year clinical nursing experience

General practice experience

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
