Job summary

CCL Label is seeking an experienced Pre-Press Operator for its Healthcare, Wine & Spirits division in Chirnside Park. This fixed-term parental leave cover runs through December 2027, reporting to the Client Services and Project Manager.

The role involves reviewing artwork, preparing proofs, and ensuring files meet customer specs for various printing methods. You’ll work hands-on to support production deadlines, manage version control, and ensure quality throughout the pre-press process,

Qualifications

• Pre-press trade experience required.
• Intermediate to advanced Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop skills.
• Knowledge of artwork preparation and file requirements for offset, flexographic, flatbed screen, foil, embossing and digital printing.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and production deadlines.

About the role

We're looking for an experienced Pre-Press Operator to join our Healthcare, Wine & Spirits division in Chirnside Park.

This is a fixed-term parental leave cover position through to December 2027.

Reporting to the Client Services and Project Manager, you'll review, prepare and manage artwork through the pre-press process, ensuring files, proofs, tooling and plates meet customer specifications and technical printing requirements. This is a very hands-on role.

You'll play an important role in supporting production deadlines, maintaining high quality standards and ensuring everything required for each job is ready before it reaches the press.

What you'll be doing

• Ensure required proofs, tooling and plates are available at press to minimise production downtime.
• Coordinate with Customer Service, Commercial, Scheduling, Procurement, Stores, Quality and production teams to meet job priorities.
• Review incoming artwork against CCL printing guidelines for flexographic, offset and digital printing.
• Create and modify artwork, mock-ups, dielines and templates using Adobe Creative Cloud applications.
• Prepare production-ready proofs and manage artwork, files and approvals.
• Match PMS colours and supplied samples to printing stocks, colour strategies and production standards.
• Generate final digital, composite, continuous-print flexographic and offset production files.
• Proofread and independently check artwork, proofs and production files against customer specifications, procedures and instructions.
• Support pharmaceutical artwork approvals through accurate version control, file management and artwork disposal processes.
• Prepare proofs, plate and tooling orders, folio codes, offset plates and flatbed screens as required.
• Support quality investigations and participate in 5S and other continuous improvement initiatives.
• Follow applicable SOPs, customer-specific procedures, cGMP practices and workplace health and safety requirements.

What we're looking for

• Methodical and organised working practices, with the ability to manage competing priorities and production deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail when proofreading artwork and checking production files, proofs and tooling.
• Previous pre-press trade experience.
• Intermediate to advanced Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop skills.
• Knowledge of artwork preparation and file requirements for offset, flexographic, flatbed screen, foil, embossing and digital printing.
• Experience matching colours and preparing colour strategies, printed proofs and standards.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills for working with internal teams, customers and suppliers.Ability to maintain accurate file and version control and follow SOP, cGMP and customer-specific requirements.
• Experience in the pharmaceutical or wine industry is desirable.
