Job summary

Essendon Motor Group is seeking a reliable New Car Pre-Delivery Technician to join our team. This hands-on role focuses on preparing new vehicles for customer delivery, performing PDIs, fitting standard components, and rectifying minor issues to ensure high-quality handovers.

Ideal candidates have automotive experience, strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship, with a current Australian driver’s licence and full Australian working rights.

Qualifications

• Previous automotive pre-delivery, servicing or hands-on automotive work experience.
• Good general mechanical knowledge and confidence working on new vehicles.
• Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
• Ability to identify and rectify minor vehicle faults.
• Reliable, organised and able to work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Carry out pre-delivery inspections on new vehicles in line with manufacturer and dealership requirements.
• Inspect vehicles for damage, missing components, loose or misaligned trim and other defects.
• Check and test vehicle systems including lights, windows, seats, infotainment and electrical equipment.
• Carry out basic mechanical and operational checks as required.
• Identify and rectify minor faults prior to vehicle delivery.
• Fit number plates, floor mats and other standard new-vehicle components.
• Install basic genuine and aftermarket accessories where required.
• Complete PDI checklists and required documentation accurately.

Due to the continued growth of our Pre-Delivery operation, we are seeking a reliable and experienced New Car Pre-Delivery Technician to join our team.

The Opportunity

This is a hands-on role preparing new vehicles for customer delivery. You will be responsible for carrying out pre-delivery inspections, fitting standard components and accessories, identifying and rectifying minor issues, and ensuring every vehicle is completed to a high standard before handover.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out pre-delivery inspections (PDI) on new vehicles in accordance with manufacturer and dealership requirements.

• Inspect vehicles for damage, missing components, loose or misaligned trim and other defects.

• Check and test vehicle systems including lights, windows, seats, infotainment, horn and other electrical equipment.

• Carry out basic mechanical and operational checks as required.

• Identify and rectify minor faults and defects prior to vehicle delivery.

• Fit number plates, floor mats and other standard new-vehicle components.

• Install basic genuine and aftermarket accessories where required.

• Complete vehicle software updates and manufacturer campaigns where applicable.

• Check fluid levels, tyre pressures and general vehicle condition.

• Carry out minor paint touch-ups and cosmetic rectification where required.

• Complete PDI checklists, job cards and required documentation accurately.

• Report any faults or damage requiring further mechanical, electrical or body repairs.

• Ensure vehicles are completed correctly and on time for scheduled customer deliveries.

• Maintain dealership tools and equipment in good working condition.

• Keep the Pre-Delivery workshop clean, organised and safe.

• Follow all manufacturer, dealership and workplace health and safety procedures.

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience in automotive pre-delivery, servicing, mechanical work or a similar hands-on automotive role.

• Good general mechanical knowledge and confidence working on new vehicles.

• Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship.

• Ability to identify and rectify minor vehicle faults.

• Ability to work efficiently in a busy Pre-Delivery environment.

• Reliable, organised and able to work as part of a team.

• Current Australian driver’s licence.

• Full Australian working rights.

• Automotive trade qualification is preferred but not essential for applicants with suitable experience.
