Job summary

Harmony Auto in Melbourne, Australia is seeking an experienced Diagnostic Technician to join our Warehouse PDI Team, diagnosing faults and preparing vehicles for delivery.

You will use diagnostic equipment to identify mechanical, electrical and electronic issues, ensure vehicles meet quality standards, and support other technicians. Experience with EVs and BYD/DENZA brands is a plus. The role promises ongoing training and career development within Harmony Auto.

Qualifications

• Experience as Automotive Diagnostic Technician or similar role.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.

Responsibilities

As our operations continue to expand, we are looking for an experienced and technically skilled Diagnostic Technician to join our growing Warehouse PDI Team.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with the latest electric vehicle technology and advanced diagnostic systems, while playing an important role in ensuring vehicles are fully inspected, diagnosed and prepared to meet our quality standards before delivery.

About the Role

As a Diagnostic Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing and resolving mechanical, electrical and electronic faults identified during the Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) process.

Working closely with the PDI Team and Warehouse Controller, you will help identify and resolve technical issues efficiently and ensure vehicles are safe, functional and ready for delivery.

Key responsibilities include:

• Carry out vehicle diagnostics and fault finding during the PDI process
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical and electronic issues using appropriate diagnostic equipment
• Identify and resolve faults efficiently to minimise vehicle delays
• Perform inspections and technical checks to ensure vehicles meet required quality standards
• Support PDI Technicians with complex diagnostic and technical issues
• Provide technical guidance and assistance to other technicians where required
• Work with the team to maintain high standards of vehicle quality and delivery readiness
• Follow manufacturer procedures, technical instructions and company PDI processes
• Maintain accurate records of diagnostic findings and completed work
• Assist with continuous improvement of PDI and vehicle preparation processes

About You

We are looking for someone who is technically capable, reliable and confident in diagnosing vehicle faults.

• Previous experience as an Automotive Diagnostic Technician, Automotive Technician or similar role
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
• Good knowledge of mechanical, electrical and electronic vehicle systems
• Experience using automotive diagnostic tools and equipment
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality
• Ability to work independently and identify technical issues effectively
• Ability to support and guide other technicians when required
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• A proactive approach to problem-solving
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced warehouse environment

Desirable

• Experience working with electric vehicles (EVs) or new energy vehicles
• Experience with BYD, DENZA or other new energy vehicle brands
• Experience in PDI, vehicle preparation or pre-delivery inspection
• Relevant automotive qualifications
• Relevant automotive trade qualifications and/or diagnostic certifications
