Job summary

Tassal Group in Proserpine, Queensland, is seeking an Aquaculture Technician - Farm Operations for our prawn farm. This full-time fixed-term contract runs until the end of March 2027, with 12-hour shifts on a 2/2/3 roster.

You will help run the ponds, support animal health, and optimise growing conditions in a fast-paced aquaculture environment. You will work outdoors in all weather, monitor ponds daily, manage water quality, clean and maintain equipment, and record data using an iPad.

Qualifications

• Physical fitness and comfort working outdoors in all weather.
• Strong observational skills and ability to identify issues early.
• Basic IT skills for data entry, reporting and task management on iPad.
• Aquaculture experience is advantageous but not essential; training provided.
• Positive attitude with ability to work collaboratively and independently.
• Current Australian driver’s licence and reliable transport to site.
• Full working rights in Australia.
• Must be able to complete pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screening.

Responsibilities

• Assist with water management to maintain pond conditions for prawn health and growth.
• Conduct daily pond monitoring of health, water quality and aeration systems.
• Perform equipment cleaning and routine maintenance to keep operations running.
• Collect accurate data and use digital systems (iPad) to record and report pond conditions and tasks.
• Follow safety protocols and procedures while completing tasks.
• Support team with general farm operations and work independently when required.
