Job summary

Harbord OOSH in Freshwater, NSW is seeking a Practice Lead - Curriculum & Inclusion to drive educational excellence, inclusive practice and child wellbeing across Before School Care, After School Care and Vacation Care programs.

As the service's Designated Educational Leader and Secondary Nominated Supervisor, you will mentor educators, review educational practice, lead inclusion initiatives and drive continuous improvement while ensuring MTOP alignment and strong governance.

Qualifications

• Diploma, Advanced Diploma or higher qualification approved under the Education and Care Services National Regulations.
• Experience in Educational Leader or similar leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of MTOP, NQF, National Law and Regulations.
• Experience leading curriculum development and inclusive initiatives.
• Current NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) and child protection training.

Responsibilities

• Lead educational practice, curriculum implementation and continuous improvement across the service.
• Coach, mentor and support educators to strengthen curriculum planning and program quality.
• Champion inclusive practice ensuring meaningful participation and safety for all children.
• Coordinate inclusion strategies and behaviour support plans; manage ISP applications.
• Provide leadership support as the 2IC and Secondary Nominated Supervisor when required.

We are partnering with Harbord OOSH to recruit a Practice Lead - Curriculum & Inclusion, a newly created leadership opportunity that will play a pivotal role in driving educational excellence, inclusive practice and child wellbeing across the service.

Working closely with the Centre Director, you'll become the educational leadership partner for the service, supporting Assistant Directors and educators to deliver engaging, high-quality programs that reflect children's interests, strengths and individual needs.

About the Role

This is a dedicated leadership position responsible for shaping curriculum, educational quality, inclusion and behaviour support across Before School Care, After School Care and Vacation Care programs.

As the service's Designated Educational Leader and Secondary Nominated Supervisor, you'll work across all age groups and program areas to strengthen educator capability, embed best practice and ensure educational programs align with My Time, Our Place (MTOP), the National Quality Framework and the service philosophy.

This is an off-the-floor, leadership role that allows you to focus on mentoring educators, reviewing educational practice, leading inclusion initiatives and driving continuous improvement across the service.

You'll also act as the Centre Director's second-in-charge, providing leadership support and operational continuity when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead educational practice, curriculum implementation and continuous improvement across the service.
• Coach, mentor and support Assistant Directors and educators to strengthen curriculum planning, reflective practice and program quality.
• Champion inclusive practice, ensuring all children can participate meaningfully and safely within the program.
• Lead the development, implementation and review of Individual Support Plans, inclusion strategies and behaviour support plans.
• Coordinate Inclusion Support Program (ISP) applications, documentation and funding requirements.
• Promote child-centred, strengths-based and trauma-informed approaches to behaviour support and wellbeing.
• Lead curriculum planning and educational programming aligned with My Time, Our Place (MTOP).
• Conduct curriculum observations, practice reviews and quality audits to maintain consistency across all programs.
• Facilitate professional learning, coaching and capability-building opportunities for educators.
• Build collaborative partnerships with families, schools, therapists and external support services.
• Analyse educational outcomes, participation and wellbeing data to inform service improvement.
• Contribute to the Quality Improvement Plan (QIP), self-assessment processes and governance reporting.
• Provide leadership support as the delegated 2IC and Secondary Nominated Supervisor when required.

About You

You're an experienced educational leader who believes great programs are built through strong relationships, reflective practice and empowering educators to be their best.

You are passionate about inclusion, child wellbeing and creating environments where every child feels safe, valued and supported.

You will bring:

• Diploma, Advanced Diploma or higher qualification approved under the Education and Care Services National Regulations.
• Previous experience in an Educational Leader, Practice Lead, Assistant Director, OSHC Coordinator, Centre Leadership or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of My Time, Our Place (MTOP), the National Quality Framework, National Law and Regulations.
• Demonstrated experience leading curriculum development, educational quality and reflective practice.
• Experience supporting children with additional needs, inclusion planning and positive behaviour support.
• Strong understanding of child development, trauma-informed practice and inclusive education.
• Experience coaching, mentoring and developing educators and emerging leaders.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
• Strong organisational, documentation and reporting capability.
• A collaborative leadership style with a genuine passion for continuous improvement.

Essential Requirements

• Current NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC)
• Approved First Aid qualification
• Current Anaphylaxis and Asthma Management certifications
• Child Protection training (or current approved equivalent)
• Willingness to be appointed as the Designated Educational Leader and Secondary Nominated Supervisor
• Ability to meet all legislative and regulatory requirements for the role
