Job summary

WesTrac in WA is seeking a hands-on mechanic to rebuild Caterpillar powertrain components at our South Guildford workshop. You will disassemble, inspect and rebuild transmissions, torque converters and final drives to Caterpillar specifications, while maintaining precise records and safety standards.

The ideal candidate brings an Australian-recognised mechanical trade qualification and experience in heavy diesel or mobile plant maintenance, with a strong focus on quality workmanship and teamwork

Qualifications

• Australian-recognised mechanical trade qualification is required.
• Experience in heavy diesel, automotive, truck, or mobile plant maintenance.
• Strong attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship.
• The ability to follow technical instructions and procedures.
• A genuine commitment to safety and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble, inspect, diagnose and rebuild Caterpillar transmissions, torque converters and final drives
• Complete precision assembly to Caterpillar specifications
• Measure and record component condition using specialised tooling
• Complete quality checks, testing and accurate service documentation
• Work safely and contribute to a supportive, high-performing workshop team
