Job summary

Tyree Group in the Southern Highlands invites applications for a hands-on Test Bay Technician. You will prepare transformers and test equipment, perform type, routine and special tests, and ensure results meet approved plans and standards.

You will read electrical drawings, set up testing gear, and work closely with Engineering, Production and Quality teams to maintain safety, accuracy and timely testing across shifts.

Qualifications

• Australian-recognised electrical trade qualification or relevant electrical engineering qualification.
• Experience with power transformers, high-voltage equipment, or electrical testing.
• Ability to read electrical drawings and follow detailed test procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare power transformers and test equipment for type, routine, and special testing.
• Complete test connections in accordance with approved test plans and drawings.
• Conduct transformer testing: winding resistance, voltage ratio, insulation resistance, capacitance and power factor/tan delta, no-load and load loss.
• Set up test instruments, temporary leads, earthing systems, barriers and exclusion zones.
• Record test results accurately and assist with the preparation of test reports.
• Identify abnormal results and support investigation of test failures.
• Inspect, maintain and verify test equipment is serviceable and calibrated.
• Read schematics and transformer drawings; coordinate with Production and Engineering.
• Maintain a clean, safe Test Bay and follow high-voltage safety rules.
