Job summary

Powertech in Brisbane is seeking an experienced Senior Transformer Technician to join our team on a Full-Time Permanent basis. You will perform commissioning and maintenance testing of HV transformers, support construction, assembly and repairs, and contribute to safety and quality on high-profile projects.

The ideal candidate holds an unrestricted QLD Electrical Fitter and Mechanic license, has 4+ years of post-trade experience, and can work collaboratively with internal and external

Qualifications

• Unrestricted QLD Electrical Fitter and Mechanics License.
• Minimum 4 years’ experience post trade.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• HV Switching Ticket preferred.
• Knowledge of appropriate Australian Standards.
• Proven ability meeting project quality, schedule, and budget requirements.
• Ability to promote a high standard of safety, professionalism, and effective communication with both internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Commissioning and maintenance testing of HV power transformers.
• Construction, assembly and repairs to HV power transformers; bushing installation and replacement; leak repairs onsite and in workshop.
• Proven experience with application of vacuum and performing oil filtration/degasification.
• Assist in preparation of commissioning/testing documentation, test plans and create detailed technical reports upon completion of works.
• Carry out JSHAs before commencing any new works to identify hazards and implement controls.
• Primary testing of HV/LV transformers (Tan Delta/Voltage Ratio/Winding Resistance/Dielectric Response/SFRA, Oil Sampling).
• Knowledge of circuit breakers and switchboard testing would be highly advantageous.
