Job summary

ASC Blasting and Coating in Perth is seeking a Powder Coating Production Manager to lead the floor from day one, own quoting, client contact and delivery, and build the team.

This fixed Perth site offers relocation support for interstate candidates, a direct line to the owner, and a KPI bonus up to $40,000 on top of a $130k–$150k package. You’ll drive safety, efficiency and quality as the site matures.

Qualifications

• Five or more years leading production in powder coating, galvanising, industrial coatings or fabrication.
• Experience quoting and pricing coating or fabrication work and dealing with clients.
• Strong understanding of production planning, workflow and labour allocation.
• Practical knowledge of powder coating processes, quality control and defect reduction.
• Proven track record of leading and developing a production team.
• Strong safety mindset and hands-on leadership on the workshop floor.

Responsibilities

• Run the floor: plan and control production to meet priorities and deadlines.
• Build the team: lead, coach, manage rosters and workforce planning.
• Quality control: maintain coating quality and manage process settings and checks.
• Own the commercial side: set pricing and win the work, manage client relationships.
• Coordinate maintenance with Operations Manager to keep production on track.

Powder Coating Production Manager | Perth Based | Relocation Support

Run the floor. Own the numbers. Build it from day one.

We are opening a new 2,500 square metre powder coating facility in Welshpool, Perth, the first site of a planned national network. Reporting to the owner, you will be hands on from day one, setting up the site, building the team, and owning quoting, client contact and delivery.

Based in Perth, Western Australia: a fixed site role, home every night. Relocation support available for the right interstate candidate.

What You'll Do

Running the Floor

Plan and control production to meet priorities, customer deadlines and output targets

Coordinate workflow from preparation and loading through powder application, curing, quality checks and handover

Allocate labour, manage priorities and remove bottlenecks

Monitor capacity, downtime and job progress

Building the Team

Lead, coach and hold the production team accountable

Manage rosters, staffing and workforce planning as the team grows

Support onboarding, training and skills development

Drive a safety first culture, including housekeeping, safe work practices and toolbox communication

Work closely with the Operations Manager to coordinate maintenance while keeping production on track

Quality Control

Maintain consistent powder coating quality against customer requirements

Control process settings, curing, colour changeovers, material use and quality checks

Investigate quality issues and implement corrective actions

Own key KPIs including output, on time delivery, labour efficiency, downtime, rework and material waste

Own the Commercial Side

Set the price and win the work: quote every coating and fabrication job through Steelhead

Be the face of the business for every client, from first enquiry to delivered job

Build the relationships that grow repeat business with fabricators and industrial customers

What You'll Bring

Five or more years leading production in powder coating, galvanising, industrial coatings, metal finishing or fabrication

Experience quoting and pricing coating or fabrication work, and confidence dealing directly with clients

A strong understanding of production planning, workflow and labour allocation

Practical knowledge of powder coating processes, quality control and the common causes of defects and rework

A proven record of leading and developing a production team

A strong safety mindset and confidence on the workshop floor

Hands on, calm under pressure and quick to solve problems

Commissioning or setup experience is a strong advantage, not a requirement

Relevant trade, manufacturing or technical qualifications are an advantage
