Job summary

Darwalla Group is seeking a Rearing Farm Assistant Manager (2IC) to work closely with the Farm Manager at the Killarney Breeder Rearing Farm in south-east Queensland. You will oversee daily operations across a 6-shed rearing farm and develop into a future Farm Manager role.

Responsibilities include coordinating activities, maintaining safety, training staff, monitoring animal health, and ensuring timely documentation. A development path supports growth within the company.

Qualifications

• Previous poultry industry experience is required, preferably in Rearing.
• Knowledge of animal welfare standards, legislative obligations and Health, Safety and Environment policies.
• Self-motivated to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
• Able to engage, lead and direct a team.
• Commitment to industry best practice and sound decision making.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Positive, proactive attitude and strong organisational abilities.
• Competent computer skills and willingness to use farm management software.
• Current Drivers Licence and access to a car.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Farm Manager in coordinating farm activities to achieve business objectives.
• Ensure tasks are performed safely and in compliance with guidelines.
• Support training and supervision of staff for specialised tasks and routines.
• Monitor animal health and ensure medications are administered correctly.
• Complete farm administration, reports and documentation within deadlines.
• Assist in engaging and leading a team to meet daily targets.
