The University of Sydney invites applications for a 12-month, full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate in Additive Manufacturing and Advanced Materials Characterisation. The role sits in AMME and collaborates across HDR, Honours students, industry partners, and international collaborators.

The successful candidate will conduct experimental research on metallic AM, powder bed fusion, and microstructure-property relationships, using state-of-the-art microscopy and microanalysis facilities.

Qualifications

PhD in Materials Science and Engineering, Metallurgy, Additive Manufacturing or related field.
Demonstrated expertise in metallic additive manufacturing including powder bed fusion.
Experience with advanced materials characterisation techniques (SEM, EBSD, TEM, PFIB, atom probe).
Strong knowledge of physical metallurgy and microstructure evolution in engineering alloys.

Responsibilities

Undertake experimental research in metallic additive manufacturing, focused on powder bed fusion processing.
Investigate processing-microstructure-property relationships using advanced characterization.
Develop and optimise AM process parameters, feedstock prep and post-processing.
Collaborate with students, staff, and industry partners on multidisciplinary projects.
Disseminate results via publications and conferences.
