Job summary

Origin Energy is seeking a Portfolio Optimisation Manager to shape the retail electricity, gas and broadband portfolio. You will synthesise customer insights, market dynamics and regulatory changes to optimise pricing and product mix, and present clear recommendations to senior leaders.

Working across Retail, Energy Markets and Finance, you will turn complex data into actionable insights, influence decisions at executive level, and drive long-term portfolio performance.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in portfolio optimisation, pricing, and commercial strategy within a regulated industry.
• Ability to translate data into clear business recommendations for senior stakeholders.
• Proficient in SQL and data visualization tools to interpret complex information.

• Own and optimise residential and business customer portfolios to improve value and retention.

About the role

As Portfolio Optimisation Manager, you’ll play a key role in shaping Origin’s retail portfolio strategy across electricity, gas and broadband.You’ll bring together customer insights, market segmentation, wholesale market dynamics and regulatory developments to optimise pricing, products and portfolio performance. Partnering across Retail, Energy Markets and Finance, you’ll turn complex analysis into clear recommendations that balance commercial outcomes, risk and customer value.This is an influential role for someone who can think strategically, work comfortably with complex data and communicate with impact at senior and executive levels.

Key responsibilities

• Develop portfolio and pricing recommendations that support growth, cost recovery and sustainable long-term performance.
• Own and optimise residential and business customer portfolios to improve value, retention and commercial outcomes.
• Assess customer behaviour, industry developments and wholesale market trends to guide pricing and portfolio decisions.
• Prepare clear, executive-ready insights, business cases and recommendations to support senior leadership and Board decision-making.
• Partner across Retail, Energy Markets, Finance, Regulatory and project teams to implement tariff changes, price new products and deliver strategic initiatives.

What you’ll bring

• Strong experience in portfolio optimisation, pricing, commercial strategy or a related role within energy or another complex, regulated industry.
• Highly developed numerical and analytical capability, including financial modelling and advanced Excel skills.
• Experience using SQL and data visualisation tools such as Tableau to interpret complex information and develop actionable recommendations.
• Strong commercial judgement, with the ability to balance competitiveness, profitability, risk and customer outcomes.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, including the ability to translate complex analysis into concise, influential presentations and written recommendations.
