Job summary

Origin Energy is seeking a Portfolio Optimisation Manager to shape retail pricing and portfolio strategy across electricity, gas and broadband in Melbourne. You will synthesize customer insights, market trends, and regulatory developments to deliver clear, executive-ready recommendations that balance value, risk and customer outcomes.

Partner with Retail, Energy Markets and Finance to implement tariff changes, price new products and drive strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in portfolio optimisation, pricing, or related role in energy or regulated industries.
• Numerical and analytical capability with financial modelling and advanced Excel.
• Experience using SQL and Tableau to interpret complex information and develop recommendations.
• Strong commercial judgement balancing profitability, risk and customer outcomes.

• Own and optimise residential and business customer portfolios to improve value, retention and commercial outcomes.
• Assess customer behaviour, industry developments and wholesale market trends to guide pricing and portfolio decisions.
• Prepare clear, executive-ready insights, business cases and recommendations to support senior leadership and Board decision-making.
• Partner across Retail, Energy Markets, Finance, Regulatory and project teams to implement tariff changes, price new products and deliver strategic initiatives.

About the role

As Portfolio Optimisation Manager, you’ll play a key role in shaping Origin’s retail portfolio strategy across electricity, gas and broadband.You’ll bring together customer insights, market segmentation, wholesale market dynamics and regulatory developments to optimise pricing, products and portfolio performance. Partnering across Retail, Energy Markets and Finance, you’ll turn complex analysis into clear recommendations that balance commercial outcomes, risk and customer value.This is an influential role for someone who can think strategically, work comfortably with complex data and communicate with impact at senior and executive levels.

What you’ll bring

• Strong experience in portfolio optimisation, pricing, commercial strategy or a related role within energy or another complex, regulated industry.
• Highly developed numerical and analytical capability, including financial modelling and advanced Excel skills.
• Experience using SQL and data visualisation tools such as Tableau to interpret complex information and develop actionable recommendations.
• Strong commercial judgement, with the ability to balance competitiveness, profitability, risk and customer outcomes.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, including the ability to translate complex analysis into concise, influential presentations and written recommendations.
