Job summary

A leading Australian recruitment firm is seeking a Portfolio Management Lead to spearhead the Capability & Improvement Office. The position requires significant PMO leadership experience, particularly in infrastructure and capital works environments. Candidates should possess strong project management knowledge and excellent stakeholder engagement skills. This is a long-term engagement with a competitive hourly rate between A$110,000 to A$120,000. Applications are open to Brisbane-based candidates only.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in PMO Leadership at portfolio or program delivery level within infrastructure.
• Proven ability to establish or operate capability uplift functions.
• Strong knowledge of project management methodologies.

Contract: Long‑term engagement until December 2027, open to Brisbane‑based candidates only.

Pay: Competitive hourly rate / Salary range: A$110,000‑A$120,000

Employment type: Contract

Responsibilities

• Lead the Capability & Improvement Office, developing frameworks and standards for project delivery.
• Identify and implement process improvements across the portfolio.
• Manage lessons learned to inform future projects and enhance practices.
• Design and deliver training programs to uplift team capabilities.
• Build strong stakeholder relationships and advise on best practices.
• Support assurance activities to ensure compliance with standards.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in PMO Leadership at portfolio or program delivery level within infrastructure, capital works or asset‑intensive environments.
• Proven ability to establish or operate capability uplift functions.
• Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., PRINCE2, MSP).
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and change leadership skills.
• Experience with reporting tools such as Power BI or MS Project is beneficial.
