About the Role

Responsible for transferring patients across hospital wards and Theatres, assisting clinical staff, and collecting soiled linen and general waste.

We are seeking an efficient, professional, and empathetic Hospital Porter to join our dedicated Ward 4 East at Macquarie University Hospital. As part of Australia’s premier university‑owned private teaching hospital, our Step‑Down Cardiology and Angio Day service accommodates patients arriving for same‑day cardiac, vascular, and neuro‑interventional procedures. In this specialized environment, your proactive support will drive the critical cycle of patient intake, rapid theatre turnaround, and safe post‑procedure transfer back to the day ward for discharge—all while delivering the premium, stress‑free care our private patients expect.

Key Responsibilities

• Admissions & Intake Transport: Greet and escort same‑day patients from the main reception or day ward admission bays directly into the specialized angiography prep areas.
• Rapid Theatre Turnaround: Coordinate closely with the day nursing team and radiographers to safely transfer patients into the hybrid imaging theatres, helping the department maintain its precise daily procedure schedule.
• Post‑Procedure Care Logistics: Care for and transfer recovering patients carefully back to the Day Ward or recovery lounges, ensuring maximum patient comfort following sedation.
• Day Suite Supply Flows: Move specialized clinical kits, clean linens, and essential sterile consumables into the angiography labs to ensure rooms are fully restocked between cases.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Premium Customer Service: Exceptional interpersonal skills with a warm, reassuring manner to alleviate the anxiety of patients undergoing same‑day heart or blood vessel interventions.
• Physical Fitness & Mobility: High stamina to handle active movement throughout the day, including pushing modern hospital beds, specialized chairs, and heavy equipment.
• Time Management: Sharp organization skills to respond dynamically to a fast‑moving day surgery schedule without compromising safety or patient care standards.
• Compliance: Must possess or be willing to obtain an Australian National Police Check, Working with Children Check (WWCC), and meet NSW Health Category A immunization requirements.
• Prior experience in a day surgery, radiology unit, or high‑end hospitality environment is highly regarded.
