Job summary

GEMCO is seeking an experienced Port Operator to join our team, supporting safe and efficient port operations for manganese ore handling and export. This role ensures vessel schedules are met through proficient operation of port infrastructure and equipment.

Reporting to the Port Supervisor, you will operate fixed and mobile plant, assist with loading, stockpile management and general port activities while maintaining accurate records and adhering to safety and environmental procedures.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years experience operating loaders (CAT 992 highly regarded).
• Demonstrated commitment to safety and operational excellence.
• Sound computer skills with the ability to complete reports and interpret work instructions.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills in a dynamic operational environment.
• Current MSIC (Maritime Security Identification Card) Essential.
• Must be able to provide a National Police Clearance
• Complete a Pre-employment Medical, including a Drug and alcohol screening

Responsibilities

• Operate port equipment and infrastructure safely and efficiently.
• Support vessel loading, stockpile management, and material handling activities.
• Conduct pre-start inspections and promptly report equipment defects.
• Monitor operational performance and maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Adhere to all port, maritime, safety, and environmental procedures.
• Assist with housekeeping and minor maintenance activities across the port area.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, maintenance teams, and stakeholders to ensure smooth operations and adherence to shipping schedules.
