Job summary

ACCC seeks a Policy Officer to coordinate strategic priorities across a range of ACCC work areas, consolidating information into briefs and ministerial materials for decision-makers.

You will engage with the Australian Parliament, government departments and ministerial offices, support Senate Estimates appearances and inquiries, and prepare executive communications. The role progresses APS4/APS5 responsibilities in a flexible, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of parliamentary and cabinet processes or the ability to gain this knowledge quickly.
• Interest in the ACCC’s role, current competition and consumer law issues and public policy.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and negotiate.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and plan work under direction.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate defined activities and support strategic priorities across ACCC work areas.
• Prepare executive briefs, correspondence, reports, and ministerial materials.
• Support engagement with Parliament and ministerial offices, including hearings.
• Undertake research and analysis to identify issues and opportunities.
• Identify opportunities to improve coordination and ways of working.
• Contribute to a positive, collaborative team environment.
