Job summary

Geelong Careers seeks a Policy & Legislative Services Advisor to support the LPIS Division in formulating effective legislative solutions and authoritative advice, working closely with Senior Policy & Legislative Services Advisors and Senior Economic Policy Advisors.

The role covers strategic, economic, legislation, regulatory and operational policy development across national government and stakeholder forums.

Qualifications

Experience in developing strategic economic or public policy.
Policy advice on complex issues with tight deadlines.
Strong research and analytical thinking.
Ability to deliver advice on sensitive issues under pressure.
Understanding of the regulations writing process and drafting legislation.
Knowledge of WorkSafe Victoria's legislative framework.
Familiarity with Commonwealth–State processes.
Tertiary qualifications in economics, law, public policy, administration, science or health.

Responsibilities

Undertake critical research and analysis on literature, case law, and trends to address policy issues.
Lead or assist in developing and quality assurance of statutory and non-statutory guidance.
Prepare briefing papers, policy review papers, and submissions to government.
Prepare briefings to support WorkSafe's representation on national forums.
Participate in multi-disciplinary teams to operationalise Victoria's workplace laws.
