Job summary

The Australasian Railway Association (ARA) is seeking a Manager – Policy & Advocacy Projects to join our Policy Team in Canberra. The role delivers policy, advocacy and strategic project work across Australia and New Zealand, coordinating research, stakeholder engagement and practical policy materials.

You will report to the General Manager – Infrastructure Investment and Government Engagement and contribute across priority areas including rail investment, accessibility, and government

Qualifications

• At least three years' experience in a policy, government relations, stakeholder engagement, project coordination or similar role.
• Tertiary qualifications in public policy, politics, communications, public administration, social sciences, law, arts or equivalent.
• A sound understanding of government, parliamentary and public policy processes.
• Strong written communication skills, including briefing notes, correspondence, submissions and presentations.
• Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to translate information into practical advice.
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Support advocacy projects promoting priority rail investment opportunities across Australia and New Zealand.
• Undertake research and prepare evidence-based materials to support policy advocacy, including submissions, briefings and stakeholder engagement.
• Draft and coordinate briefing notes, fact sheets, correspondence, submissions, presentations and other advocacy materials.
• Lead the ARA’s work on accessibility in rail, including committee coordination and stakeholder engagement.
• Monitor relevant government, parliamentary, policy, infrastructure and industry developments and prepare timely summaries.
• Coordinate project plans, stakeholder lists, engagement schedules, meeting materials and follow-up actions.
• Collaborate with ARA members, internal teams, consultants and government agencies to gather information and support activities.
