Job summary

Australasian Railway Association in Canberra is seeking a Manager – Policy & Advocacy Projects to join the Policy Team. The role focuses on delivering policy, advocacy and strategic projects across Australia and New Zealand, including rail investment and accessibility.

The role reports to the General Manager and involves research, policy work, and coordinating stakeholder engagement to translate ideas into practical materials for advocacy.

Qualifications

• At least three years’ experience in policy/government relations or similar.
• Strong written communication and research skills.
• Experience coordinating projects and engaging with stakeholders.
• Knowledge of government and public-policy processes.

Responsibilities

• Support advocacy projects promoting rail investment opportunities across Australia and New Zealand.
• Undertake research and prepare evidence-based materials for submissions, briefings and stakeholder engagement.
• Draft and coordinate briefing notes, fact sheets, submissions and presentations.
• Lead accessibility work in rail, including policy development and stakeholder coordination.
• Monitor government and industry developments and prepare timely updates.
• Coordinate project plans, stakeholder lists and engagement schedules.
• Collaborate with members, teams and external partners to gather information and support activities.

Education

Relevant tertiary qualifications in public policy or related discipline
