Job summary

Southern Adelaide Local Health Network’s Flinders Medical Centre Podiatry team is seeking an Administrative Assistant to coordinate referrals, support high‑risk appointments, and keep the department running smoothly from front desk to procurement.

Reporting to the Podiatry Manager, you will deliver a comprehensive, patient‑ and consumer‑oriented administrative service, ensuring efficient appointment management across SALHN sites and accurate data entry.

Responsibilities

• Commitment to delivering high-quality and safe care consistent with the SALHN Integrated Governance Framework and Consumer Engagement Framework, and Plan.
• The frontline management of patients, visitors, medical nursing, and allied health staff in the Department
• Provide an efficient keyboard service, using current SA Health software packages
• Coordinate appointments at the central referral hub for all SALHN podiatry referrals across sites
• Receiving and directing patients to ensure that they are afforded professional, courteous, positive, and timely hospitality at all times
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, professionally and courteously with all internal and external consumers
• Ability to liaise and relate well with empathy to a variety of people, including elderly and disabled clients, and to handle enquiries from a range of staff, patients, and visitors
• The ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision and to prioritise work to meet deadlines, manage tasks simultaneously whilst working with a high level of accuracy and detail
• Proven experience in basic computing skills, including email and word processing
• Experience in the use of patient appointment-making systems and the Microsoft Office suite
