Job summary

Hunter New England Local Health District is seeking a Plumber to join the maintenance team at Armidale Hospital. The role covers preventative and reactive maintenance across water, drainage, gas and hydraulic systems to ensure safe, reliable hospital facilities.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team to support healthcare services across the Armidale, Uralla and Guyra regions, with opportunities for professional development and rural incentives.

Qualifications

  • Trade certificate or equivalent required.
  • Current NSW Plumbing Licence or ability to obtain before commencing.
  • Construction White Card required.
  • Valid Driver’s Licence and willingness to travel for work.
  • Willingness to obtain thermostatic mixing valve and backflow prevention certificates.

Responsibilities

  • Complete preventative and reactive maintenance across water, drainage, gas and hydraulic systems.
  • Identify faults and undertake plumbing repairs, upgrades and installations.
  • Respond to urgent maintenance requests while minimising disruption to clinical services.
  • Ensure all work meets Australian Standards, WHS and infection control requirements.
  • Support infrastructure upgrades and facility improvement projects.
  • Maintain accurate records through electronic maintenance systems.
  • Work closely with hospital staff, contractors and other trades to deliver effective maintenance services.

About The Role

Join our maintenance team as a Plumber and play an important role in keeping essential hospital infrastructure safe, reliable and operational. Working across a range of plumbing and hydraulic systems, you’ll provide preventative and responsive maintenance, repairs and installations that help support quality healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete preventative and reactive maintenance across water, drainage, gas and hydraulic systems.
  • Identify faults and undertake plumbing repairs, upgrades and installations.

You’ll be part of a dedicated maintenance team made up of skilled trades professionals, including electricians, a carpenter, hospital assistants and administration staff. The team works across multiple healthcare facilities to provide safe, compliant and dependable maintenance services.

About You

We’re looking for someone who brings:

  • Strong fault-finding, troubleshooting and maintenance skills.

Essential Requirements
  • Relevant Trade Certificate in Plumbing, drainer and gas fitter or equivalent (Cert III in Plumbing or equivalent).
  • Current NSW Plumbing Licence, or ability to obtain prior to commencement.
  • Construction White Card.
  • Current Driver’s Licence and ability to travel for work purposes.
  • Obtained or willingness to obtain thermostatic mixing valve and backflow prevention certificates.
