Job summary

Jemena is seeking a Platform Engineer to shape and evolve our Kubernetes environment in Melbourne. You will partner with development teams to deliver secure, observable platforms using AWS EKS, Rancher, GitLab, ArgoCD, Terraform, Grafana, and more.

You’ll drive automation, reliability and continuous improvement while supporting cloud-native tooling, security, and scalable operations across the energy platform. Join a culture focused on safety, inclusion and professional growth.

Qualifications

• Kubernetes concepts and architecture knowledge.
• Hands-on experience with AWS EKS or Rancher Kubernetes platforms.
• Strong Kubernetes security practices (RBAC, Kyverno, secrets management).
• Experience with GitLab CI/CD and Terraform for infra as code.
• Observability focus using Grafana, Prometheus, StackState.
• Collaborative experience in Agile product teams and production environments.

What You'll Bring

• Kubernetes administration expertise (CKA certification or equivalent).
• Hands-on experience with AWS EKS and/or Rancher Kubernetes platforms.
• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes security, including RBAC, Kyverno and secrets management.
• Experience with GitOps, Terraform and infrastructure automation.
• Proven capability with observability and monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus and StackState.
• Collaborative experience working in Agile product teams and supporting production environments.

Qualifications / Certifications & Experience

• Strong understanding of core Kubernetes concepts.
• Detailed understanding of Amazon EKS architecture, managed node groups, and integration with AWS services.
• Knowledge of Rancher, including cluster management, multi-cluster orchestration, and custom cluster deployments.
• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and tools, particularly Terraform.
• Knowledge of CI/CD best practices, particularly within GitLab, to ensure the efficient and reliable deployment of infrastructure code.
• Awareness of data security, governance, and compliance requirements in cloud environments, with the ability to implement these within Jemena's platform.
