Job summary

TheDriveGroup in Sydney is seeking a Platform Security Engineer to own and evolve enterprise security platforms. This role leverages your infrastructure experience across Windows, Linux, networking and applications to advance cyber security initiatives within a large security team.

You’ll work in a hybrid model with 2 days in the Barangaroo or Sydney office, contributing to automation and platform improvements while collaborating with engineers and vendors on security projects.

Qualifications

• Strong infrastructure background with early cyber security exposure.
• Hands-on exposure to security technologies or security-focused infrastructure.
• Strong Windows and Linux fundamentals.
• Good networking knowledge and understanding of how applications, infrastructure and security interact.
• Experience administering and supporting complex enterprise platforms.
• Strong troubleshooting and logical problem-solving.
• Exposure to IAM, PAM, SIEM, EDR, DLP or email security.
• Experience working with third-party vendors and managing escalations.
• Strong communication skills with technical and stakeholder audiences.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of a primary security platform while supporting additional platforms across the wider security environment.
• Manage platform health, configuration, troubleshooting, upgrades and continuous improvement.
• Investigate technical issues across Windows, Linux, networking and applications.
• Work across security technologies covering IAM, PAM, SIEM, EDR, DLP and email security.
• Work with platforms such as CyberArk, SailPoint and Mimecast.
• Diagnose problems internally before engaging vendors and manage technical escalations through to resolution.
• Work alongside experienced Security Engineers and Architects on platform improvements and projects.
• Contribute to automation, integrations and the longer‑term strategy of your platforms.
• Communicate technical issues clearly with engineers, vendors and senior stakeholders.

If you've built a strong background in Infrastructure Engineering, Systems Administration or Platform Engineering and have started moving into cyber security, this could be the ideal next step.

We're looking for a Platform Security Engineer to join a large enterprise Cyber Security team. You'll use your existing infrastructure knowledge across Windows, Linux, networking and applications to take ownership of critical security platforms.

You don't need to be an expert in every security technology already. What's more important is that you have strong technical fundamentals, can troubleshoot problems properly and have started building hands‑on cyber security experience.

What you'll do

• Take ownership of a primary security platform while supporting additional platforms across the wider security environment.

The broader environment also includes automation and integrations across cloud and on‑premises systems, alongside end‑to‑end ownership of security technologies.

What you'll bring

We're particularly interested in people who have a strong infrastructure background and have started building their career in cyber security.

You’ll ideally have

• Strong experience across Infrastructure Engineering, Systems Administration or Platform Engineering.
• Hands‑on exposure to cyber security technologies or security‑focused infrastructure.
• Strong Windows and Linux fundamentals.
• Good networking knowledge and an understanding of how applications, infrastructure and security interact.
• Experience administering and supporting complex enterprise platforms.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work through unfamiliar technical problems logically.
• Exposure to areas such as IAM, PAM, SIEM, EDR, DLP or email security.
• Experience working with third-party vendors and managing technical escalations.
• Strong communication skills and the confidence to engage with both technical teams and senior stakeholders.

Experience with CyberArk, SailPoint, Splunk, SentinelOne, AWS or Microsoft security technologies would be beneficial, but you don't need to tick every box.
