Job summary

TakeAgile, a Melbourne-based software engineering consultancy, is seeking a senior M365/Exchange Online specialist to support architecture, operation, and automation across a global customer tenant. The role can be fully remote from Australia, with hybrid options if preferred.

You will lead Tenant Administration, configure Exchange Online, optimize licenses, and automate tasks with Graph API and PowerShell.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of hands-on engineering experience administering large-scale Microsoft 365 tenants and Exchange Online.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Advanced scripting using PowerShell and Graph API for automation.
• Certifications: Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert or Messaging Administrator Associate are desirable.

Job description

Work remotely (in Australia only) for a Melbourne based software engineering consultancy to support the architecture, engineering, operation, and automation of the Microsoft 365 tenant and Exchange Online platform of one of their global technology & engineering customers.

Hybrid remote/office based working is also available if purely remote is not ideal.

As a cloud platform specialist, you will ensure high availability, optimal performance, and efficiency across the tenant.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage M365 Tenant Administration, including global Microsoft 365 tenant settings, directory synchronization, and core services
• Architect, configure, and maintain enterprise Exchange Online messaging infrastructure
• Oversee tenant lifecycle activities, optimize license allocation, and control operational costs
• Deploy new Microsoft cloud features, evaluate service updates, and enhance platform capabilities
• Develop Graph API and PowerShell scripts to automate platform administration and optimize performance
• Design redundant mail routes, establish disaster recovery procedures, and mitigate platform service disruptions
• Govern tenant-wide configurations, define service quotas, and manage license pooling efficiently
• Analyze M365 usage telemetry and performance metrics to drive platform cost optimization and resource allocation
• Lead platform updates, tenant migrations, and infrastructure maintenance windows
• Support cyber security incident investigations through tenant security settings, message tracing, and audit log analysis

About you

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
• Minimum of 5 to 7 years of hands-on engineering experience administering large-scale enterprise Microsoft 365 tenants and Exchange Online
• Advanced scripting capabilities using PowerShell and Microsoft Graph API for automation and tenant management
• Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert or Messaging Administrator Associate certifications are highly desirable
• Deep technical mastery of M365 tenant architecture, Exchange Online messaging pipelines, hybrid mail routing, and object synchronization
• Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft 365 Admin Center, Exchange Admin Center, PowerShell, Graph API, and Entra Connect/Cloud Sync
• Strong collaboration skills to align M365 feature rollouts with business productivity requirements and IT service desk workflows
• Self-driven technical ownership to lead platform updates, tenant migrations, and infrastructure maintenance windows
• Passion for eliminating manual administration through scriptable workflows, automated provisioning, and self-service capabilities
