Job summary

IMC Trading is hiring a Software Engineer for the Application Platform team in Sydney. You will develop and operate high-performance, globally distributed Go applications and work closely with global teams to deliver scalable platform services.

You will collaborate with customers to understand needs, implement platform capabilities, and continuously improve deployment, testing, and operations across the full lifecycle.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of professional software engineering experience and proficiency in a programming language.
• Experience with automated testing and CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and Linux environments.
• Exposure to distributed computing and modern cloud-native software design.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
• DevOps mindset and experience across the full application lifecycle (dev, test, deploy, operate).
• Prior knowledge of financial markets or trading is not required, but curiosity to learn is essential.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, deploy, and maintain high-performance, globally distributed Go applications.
• Collaborate with teammates, stakeholders, and internal customers across local and global teams.
• Partner with customers to understand needs and design platform capabilities for configuration, deployment, and operation.
• Support customers, unblock teams, and turn recurring issues into platform improvements.
• Own the end-to-end service lifecycle from requirements to deployment and operation.
• Help operate and support the team's systems during Sydney business hours.
• Use automated testing and frequent deployments to deliver features quickly and iteratively.
• Balance trade-offs between latency, throughput, and maintainability in a complex tech landscape.
