Jobtailor in Sydney, NSW is seeking an experienced Platform Engineer to own and optimize our GitLab CI/CD pipelines across multiple regions. You will migrate legacy deployments to per-repository pipelines, run parallel cutovers, and validate migrations with live traffic to ensure service health.
You will document decisions and contribute to tooling and templates for scalable deployment. The role involves collaboration with a hands-on team, supporting ~250 active repositories across Lambda, ECS
• Build and ship GitLab CI/CD pipelines service by service
• Implement CodeDeploy canary deployments, multi-region orchestration with manual gates, automated rollback on CloudWatch alarms and smoke tests
• Migrate services from the legacy deployment system to self-contained per-repository pipelines
• Run old and new pipelines in parallel for zero-risk cutover
• Validate migrations against live production traffic and confirm service health
• Complete pre-migration audits to identify what to retain, redesign or remove
• Make pragmatic engineering decisions within the agreed architecture and Pipeline Construction Standard
• Coordinate with development teams on production deployment windows
• Validate environment configurations so teams can verify services after migration
• Document decisions, issues and fixes in repositories
• Improve the Pipeline Construction Standard and reference patterns
• Contribute to shared GitLab CI templates, CDK construct libraries and self-service tooling
• Work within a hands-on team of 4–6 engineers alongside the Lead Platform Engineer
• Support deployment experiences for approximately 250 active repositories across Lambda, ECS Fargate, ECS Windows, EC2 and S3/CloudFront in four production regions
Demonstrates expertise in building and managing GitLab CI/CD pipelines, with a strong focus on AWS CodeDeploy, multi-region orchestration, and migration strategies. Proficient in scripting and tooling to enhance deployment processes and ensure service reliability.
