Gough Plastics is seeking a Plastics Technician to operate roto moulding ovens in Townsville, QLD. You will ensure safety, meet production targets, and mentor junior operators.

Role requires Certificate III in Roto Moulding or 3+ years' experience, and ability to run PLC-controlled ovens. Forklift and crane operations may be required with training provided.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Roto Moulding or 3+ years' experience in roto moulding/extrusion/injection moulding.
• Ability to operate PLC/computer-controlled ovens.
• KPI-driven, solution-focused and committed to continuous improvement.

Responsabilités

• Operate and monitor roto moulding ovens in line with production schedules.
• Ensure safety compliance, including forklift and gantry crane operations.
• Train and mentor assistant oven operators.
• Perform start-up/shutdown procedures, complete shift reports, and maintain production records.
• Troubleshoot process faults and recommend improvements to cook times/designs.
• Maintain shop floor organization and cleanliness to 5S standards.
• Attend to breakdowns and conduct preventive maintenance.
• Monitor raw material levels and coordinate workflow to maximize oven utilization.
• Carry out product inspections (thickness, color, inserts) to ensure quality.

Job Description

Gough Plastics is seeking a motivated and experienced Plastics Technician to join our production team in Townsville, QLD. In this hands-on role, you'll operate and monitor roto moulding ovens, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing. You'll play a key part in meeting production targets, maintaining safety standards, and training assistant operators.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor roto moulding ovens in line with production schedules
• Ensure safety compliance, including forklift and gantry crane operations
• Train and mentor assistant oven operators
• Perform start-up/shutdown procedures, complete shift reports, and maintain production records
• Troubleshoot process faults and recommend improvements to cook times/designs
• Maintain shop floor organization and cleanliness to 5S standards
• Conduct preventative maintenance and attend to breakdowns
• Monitor raw material levels and coordinate workflow to maximize oven utilization
• Carry out product inspections (thickness, color, inserts) to ensure quality

What We're Looking For

• Certificate III in Roto Moulding or 3+ years' experience in oven roto moulding/extrusion/injection moulding
• Ability to operate PLC/computer-controlled ovens
• Skilled in manual handling and use of hand tools
• Forklift, EWP, and gantry crane operation (training/tickets provided if required)
• Strong technical understanding of oven processes
• KPI-driven, solution-focused, and committed to continuous improvement

Salary range is $70,000-$85,000pa commensurate with experience Fulltime Position available Applications open on 5th October 2026 and closes on 5th November 2026
